One of the oldest continually operated amusement parks in the country, Oaks Amusement Park in Portland, Ore., recently selected the CenterEdge Advantage point of sale software for its multi-attraction park. The 44-acre facility has been open since way back in 1905, recently celebrating its 114th anniversary on May 30. It’s home to go-karts, skating, mini-golf, a roller coaster and a variety of other games and rides. The new CenterEdge POS will be used to manage all aspects of the park’s ticketing and package options, concessions, birthday parties and group events. The 2019 International Bowl Expo in Las Vegas came to a close last night (June 27) as some attendees headed off to the QubicaAMF-sponsored ClubXpo performance of the Barenaked Ladies, while exhibitors tore down booths and some started trips home to their bowling centers, FECs and offices. The National ATM Council, the trade association representing independent and retail ATM operators, recently announced the appointment of Debbi Haacke as Vice-Chair of NAC’s Governmental Affairs Committee. Haacke is president of the Irving, Texas-based TransNational ATM Corporation, and has more than 20 years of industry experience. Virtuix, developer of the Omni virtual reality treadmill and Omni Arena esports attraction, just announced the world’s first Omni Arena installation is on pace to earn $300,000 in its first year. The unit is at Pinballz, an FEC in Austin, Texas. The center has earned $75,000 in its first three months of operation from more than 5,000 plays, according to Virtuix. Guangzhou, China, will play host to two amusement industry-related expos held simultaneously from Sept. 10-12: the 11th GTI Asia China Expo and the China Water Park and Outdoor Amusement Equipment Expo. More than 600 manufacturers are expected to participate in the GTI show, which features games and entertainment-related products. As for the water park show, China currently has more than 3,000 theme parks and 1,665 water parks, and the industry there is developing rapidly, hence the increased interest in that sector. Coming up on five years in business, Bonus Round Bar has decided to make it a double bonus, expanding to downtown Sioux Falls, S.D., this summer with an increased focus on arcade games, according to the Sioux Falls Argus Leader. The hit VR attraction from LAI Games, Virtual Rabbids: The Big Ride, recently hit 500 sales, according to the company. The unit was sold to Pizza Ranch in Casper, Wyoming.
