Intercard is demonstrating its enhanced mobile app, “The Edge,” at its Amusement Expo Booth #1013 this week. Celebrating 20 years of Dance Dance Revolution, the iconic dance and music game, Konami just released a golden cabinet in Japan called DDR A20, according to Arcade Heroes. The anniversary edition has a 55” display and 12 new songs. An upgrade kit will be released later, according to the official announcement. No word yet on whether the game might be released in markets outside of Japan, though it appears they’ll show up in Europe at least, as Electrocoin has it listed on their website. Based on the hit mobile game Slither.io, an arcade cabinet of the same name was recently launched by manufacturer Raw Thrills. First shown at IAAPA 2018 and now shipping, the company is excited to have the video redemption game hit arcade floors. With its large 55” display, it has three player positions in a relatively compact cabinet and features a variation of the classic computer game Snake. It’s official. On March 18, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed into law a bill that prohibits businesses from banning cash payments for purchases. The new law, which passed the State Assembly on a 72-2 vote, also received overwhelming support from the state Senate with a 39-0 vote. Closely resembling a recent measure enacted by the city of Philadelphia, the new law is effective immediately. Flashback Arcade + Bar features Tetris, Guitar Hero, Mortal Kombat II, Super Mario Brothers, Ms. Pac-Man, Donkey Kong and many more now-classic video games ranging from the 1970s through the early 2000s. Independent game maker BumbleBear, led by Tomás Vicuña, celebrated the launch of their video game Black Emperor with parties March 15 at Logan Arcade in Chicago and Secret Project Robot, an art gallery in New York, according to Arcade Heroes. The game was “inspired by Japanese psychedelic music and bosozoku motorcycle culture.” The Brooklyn-based BumbleBear bills itself as “vanguards of the new arcade,” and its latest game utilizes the idea of an endless side scrolling runner to a motorcycle driver.
