No Screaming on Rides, Japanese Theme Parks Say

CNN reports that a Japanese theme park association has asked roller coaster riders to refrain from screaming while soaring downhill, fearing it spreads coronavirus germs. They suggest “screaming in your hearts” instead.

Other COVID-era guidelines for amusement parks in the country are more typical – employees wearing masks, social distancing and increased sanitizing measures chief among them. The guidelines were issued by the East and West Japan Theme Park Associations, which are made up of more than 30 major amusement park operators in Japan, including Oriental Land Company (operator of Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea) and Universal Studios Japan.
