One VR Application Looks Set to Grow: Gambling

A new study by Juniper Research looked at the emerging trend of virtual reality gambling. These experiences revolve around putting the player into an immersive casino experience meant to attract high rollers, niche-clientele and early adopters of the technology.

This year has already seen a total of $58.5 million worth of bets from VR gambling, a number that is set to grow to nearly $520 million by 2021 according to the study. However, the research firm cautioned that the rise of VR gambling could be held back by the cost of VR devices, as well as the fact that currently the accessible user base is very limited.
