Biz Bits: DC Pizzacade Opens Wide

A Washington, DC pizza favorite, Pizzeria Paradiso, has added a game room to its Georgetown location, featuring Skee-Ball, Big Buck Hunter, shuffleboard, pinball and darts. This Paradiso Game Room opened Jan. 12 in the restaurant’s basement, which used to house its beer bar, Birreria Paradiso, according to The Washingtonian.

It’s an intimate 1,200-square-foot space with room for up to 75 people. In addition to game play, patrons can order any of the restaurant’s menu items in the basement. The game room also has eight beers on tap and 60 different types of canned craft beers.

The pizzeria’s expansion into the amusement business is partially due to the success of other DC-area businesses, wrote the paper. “People are more interested in being engaged instead of just consuming food and drink when they go out,” they quoted owner Ruth Gresser.
