Kenny Anderson, perhaps the most iconic of all the many colorful salesmen to work in the coin-op craft, passed away the night of May 17 at a convalescent home in Southern California at the age of 83. To describe him as irrepressible would be an understatement, since all who had the honor of calling him friend would say his wit and sales talent would have made him a star in any other industry. But we were lucky to have him here in coin-op. Born in Wisconsin of Norwegian heritage, Kenny cut his coin machine spurs with the old Wurlitzer distributing…
The CDC issued guidance last week that allows for Covid-19-vaccinated Americans to head indoors without a mask for the first time in a year. Many states and cities across the country – from New York to Las Vegas – have been quick to adopt the new guidelines. However, like throughout the pandemic, differences by location are vast; not all states or businesses have made the switch back. California is keeping masks mandatory indoors through at least June 15, when it plans on following the CDC recommendations. New Jersey, too, although the state’s Gov. Phil Murphy has not made announcements regarding…

Golf legend Tiger Woods and his entertainment center PopStroke will be expanding big time over the next year. The venue, with existing locations in Port St. Lucie and Fort Myers, has plans to open seven more locations in Florida, Texas and Arizona starting later this year. According to the Tampa Bay Times, PopStroke Entertainment is co-owned by Woods and Wall Street veteran Greg Bartoli, and the locations feature “high-concept putting courses, dining and playgrounds.” “Some of my happiest memories are spending time with my pops on the golf course having putting contests,” Woods writes on the PopStroke website. “I’m looking…
Gov. Phil Murphy recently signed an executive order that removed the state of New Jersey’s outdoor gathering limit and increased its indoor gathering limit. Among the changes that will take effect on May 19: the complete removal of all percentage capacity limits for indoor and outdoor businesses. They will still have to have six feet of distance between people or groups, but every business – from indoor amusements and recreation facilities to salons and retail stores – will be allowed to operate at 100% capacity (up from the current 50%). Indoor dining, for example, can be at 100% capacity, but…
