Bowling Returns to Santa Fe

Promising old-school cool with a modern touch, The Alley Lanes & Lounge is coming to the DeVargas Center mall in Santa Fe this summer, according to the Santa Fe New Mexican. The new 20,000-square-foot bowling alley will feature a dozen lanes, bocce ball, billiards, darts, shuffleboard, a retro arcade and bar.

Though local casinos still have bowling options, Santa Fe hasn’t had an actual bowling alley since 2009, when nearby Silva Lanes closed. Husband-and-wife owners Joey and Hanna Padilla grew up in northern New Mexico and are glad to change that. They said their business will cater to families who want to have a great time without having to travel to the big-box entertainment centers in Albuquerque or to one of those casinos.

“We just didn’t want to have to be commuting to have fun,” Joey Padilla said. They settled on the centrally-located DeVargas Center after about a year of searching for the perfect place.
