Ray Kassar, one of Atari Games’ early presidents, died Dec. 10 at his home in Vero Beach, Fla. This buttoned-down businessman was named company chief shortly after Warner Communications bought the company in 1978.

Kassar eventually became its board chairman and during his tenure, enjoyed watching their Asteroids video game capture the top spot in sales at Atari distributors as one of the pre-boom hits that continue to enjoy an iconic reputation today.
