Mario & Sonic Ready For Rio

0
By Casey Minter on July 29, 2016 INSTANT REPLAY

The international event theming Sega’s Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Arcade Edition is just around the corner (and for those who don’t know, that game is shipping and available now). The factory is hoping the Rio Olympics will drive sales and further encourage players to enjoy the unique, athletic game on which players go along with the famous duo to compete in eight different Olympic events.

Those sub-games include archery, javelin throw and sprints. There are also eight different, iconic Sega and Nintendo characters to play as, including the titular two and Luigi, Wario, Peach, Knuckles and more.

“The level of competition in Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Arcade Edition hits a new high for an amusement game,” said Sega’s International CEO Paul Williams. “Crossing the finish line first or throwing the javelin furthest will make players fell like an athlete about to receive the gold medal on the podium. Delivering that immense joyful feeling is as good a measure as any, that we’ve created a fantastic game,” Paul declared.
