Song Bird!

Legacy Creates “The Most Powerful Floor-Model Jukebox”

The Go 2 Guys at Legacy Amusement Distributors recently produced a new floor-model jukebox called Song Bird using TouchTunes’ Modular Hardware Platform to give customers a powerful music experience.

Visually, it features a 24” display and LED lighting that offers 256 changeable colors and brightness control for operator customization. Sonically, an SLC-12S subwoofer by DS18 and four PRO-GM6B speakers, also by DS18, and an amplifier that Legacy’s Ed Chermak says can power any external speakers you have on location, too.

Detailing the sound quality more thoroughly, Chermak noted: “It’s got two amplifiers – TouchTunes’ 950-watt traditional amp and then we put in an additional 1,800-watt amplifier, so they have 2,750 total peak watts of power.

“It’s the most powerful jukebox on the market today,” he said. “And it’s plug and play. Wheel it into a location, plug it into the wall and internet, and it’s literally ready to play music in a matter of minutes.”

It’s also built around the long-established TouchTunes Modular Hardware Platform, which Legacy highlights as the industry’s first no-wire, component-to-component design with snap-in part replacement.

“We’ve been with TouchTunes since the beginning,” Chermak said. And successfully so, being honored with their Distributor of the Year Award a number of times, too.

The Inspiration

Ed Chermak detailed that the spark of inspiration came from looking at the jukebox market. “It’s been 13 years since the last TouchTunes floor model jukebox, so approximately 10 years ago, we started building stands that would mimic a TouchTunes floor model jukebox – complete with speakers and subwoofer package,” he continued. “We were building many of those stands for their Playdium, Angelina and Virtuo models.”

Those orders led Chermak to believe there was a need in the marketplace for a brand-new floor model jukebox. The first of those Legacy introduced was the Harmoney jukebox/ATM, made in conjunction with John Newberry and his Venco Business Solutions.

“We have a strong track record of looking at what was new and what’s different, and that’s where Harmoney came in,” he explained. “We started off with the idea of building a floor jukebox, but then decided to combine it with an ATM. It’s a great concept, doing well where it’s been placed, but the price point made adoption a hurdle for some operators.”

Armed with that experience, he decided to return to his original idea of building the first new floor model jukebox in over a decade.

For operators, aside from considerations of floor space, there’s also a difference when it comes to installation. “With a wall box, it’s not that easy. You have to physically hang it on the wall, and then hang and wire the speakers before you can connect it for play. With the Song Bird floor jukebox, it’s plug and play.”

So far, he says the response from operators has been positive as the new product gets shown (including on the RePlay Directory cover, our January 2025 issue). “Every day we get more phone calls about the Song Bird and we’re getting more information out there,” he said. “A picture does a lot – it speaks volumes.”

“Right now, we’ve got a substantial amount of orders so I’m calling my suppliers to send me more monitors, bill acceptors, etc., because it’s working.

“Operators are complimenting us for listening to the need in the marketplace for a new floor jukebox and we’re getting reorders based on that.”

Chermak concluded: “Operator feedback has been great, and we expect that to build as we continue to get the word out. We’re excited about what Song Bird offers to operators and to the location customers. It’s got powerful sound, it looks great, and it’s built around TouchTunes’ tried-and-true Modular Hardware Platform. In other words, the Song Bird really sings!”

The product is shipping now. For more information, contact Ed Chermak and the Go 2 Guys at Legacy by calling 843-957-1999 or visiting them online at www.legacydist.com.
