Sacoa featured their new K5 Kiosk, a more compact, economical and simpler version of the K4 Kiosk. It enables users to purchase, recharge and analyze their play cards in one location. The Pac-Man Live Experience is expected to launch on March 22 at Arcade Arena in Manchester, The Sun reports. The immersive experience will see players become the Pac-Man character by making their way around a life-sized maze based on the hit ’80s arcade game. The game will feature 12 levels and be led by a game show-style host/referee. The project is being spearheaded by Tom Lionetti-Maguire of Little Lion Entertainment, which previously worked on a similar concept in London called The Crystal Maze Live Experience.

Rush Maxx, a 70,000-sq.-ft. entertainment center in San Antonio, opened recently at the Ingram Park Mall. The former Sears location now has a 20-lane bowling alley, 86 arcade games, rock climbing, laser tag, soft play obstacle courses, go-karts and a sports court with an inflatable mat. On opening day, the venue gave away free laser tag games with a $10 purchase. Rush Maxx also features memberships that offer unlimited play.

Night Heron Entertainment, the team behind DreamWorks Kung Fu Panda: The Warrior’s Gauntlet VR, won a Brass Ring Award for the game at IAAPA. Not bad for their first title! The game is distributed in North America by AVS Companies. Inspired by the beloved Kung Fu Panda franchise, the game follows the title character Po in his quest to become a Kung Fu Master. The game was built on the company’s Lynx VR platform. The cabinet is about 10’ tall with the marquee and features an 85” spectator screen, haptic floor for immersion and wind effects, too. Another Brass Ring Award went to Intercard for their iQ system. The iQ readers and kiosks enable customers to use QR codes for payment and redemption point collection. “With the iQ platform, customers can purchase or recharge game play and use a mobile device or paper receipt with QR code to play games, collect points and even redeem prizes – all without the help of a center employee,” said CEO Scott Sherrod. “It’s a big step into the future for route operators and owners of unattended arcades.” The system was first introduced at last year’s IAAPA show.
