XR Games, the developer behind 2021’s Zombieland: Headshot Fever, has raised $2.1 million to grow its team and continue making VR content. According to Upload VR, the studio recently announced it will use the investment to hire another 20 people at its studio in the U.K. The company’s first release was Angry Birds Under Pressure VR, followed by this year’s Zombieland game – both published by the VR arm of Sony Pictures. Stern Pinball has announced their latest initiative – Insider Connected. The system brings new ways to interact with their pinball machines across a variety of environments. Cedar Fair, owners of the theme park Cedar Point, are looking to develop a $28 million esports arena in Sandusky, Ohio, where Cedar Point is located. According to Blooloop, the proposed 1,500-seat arena is designed for esports and also has 200 gaming stations for competitors and spectators. Sacoa’s latest cashless installation this month was at Fun City, located in the heart of Prague in the city’s Old Town Square. The business had previously been using tokens and coins. Online video games were recently caught in the crosshairs of Chinese state media, which initially called them “spiritual opium” in an article that was widely circulated. According to Reuters, they tempered their criticism after the article drove down shares in Tencent Holdings while still stressing concern over the use of the internet by minors. “No industry should be allowed to develop in a way that will destroy a generation,” they wrote. According to the New York Post, a class action lawsuit was filed in California on July 14 by Marcello Muto alleging that Sega’s Key Master prize game was rigged and can only be beaten after a set number of unsuccessful plays have been recorded. Muto and his group want $5 million from SEGA.
