Lauren Bonetti of Green Bay, Wis., has received the Fourth Annual AAMCF J. Richard Oltmann Scholarship for $5,000. Since its institution, the Oltmann Scholarship has helped star students further their education. The AAMA’s Charitable Foundation has contributed more than $2 million since 1983.
Lauren plans on taking her $5,000 scholarship to Marquette University to pursue a degree in engineering after ranking first in her class of 511 seniors at Preble High School. A 4.0 student, she also served four years on the student council and is a member of the National Honors Society.
In her application, Lauren wrote, “When I reached high school, I quickly realized I was not the smartest, or the most athletic, or the brightest, however, through the strategies I learned from being creative and unique, I outworked my peers. My love of math and science are fueled by the lack of women in the STEM field. I plan to make some major waves wherever I am placed and change some minds about what women can achieve when it comes to the STEM field.”
