Rock and Country Reign in 2016’s Jukebox Music Charts

Both TouchTunes and AMI Entertainment recently released separate, year-end music charts, detailing what songs, artists, genres, music videos and more jukebox customers in thousands of locations across the U.S. and Canada chose this year.

Rock is still king of the jukebox, with 37 percent of plays on AMI jukes and 44 percent on TouchTunes machines. Country comes in second on both companies’ charts, with Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop and Latin music being represented as well.

Look below for details on both companies, and check out the links to see even more about what’s being played on jukeboxes all over!

According to TouchTunes’ data (and for the second year in a row!), country phenomenon Eric Church had the most plays in the company’s network of 65,000 U.S. locations.

Other top 10 songs included Work by Rihanna, Copperhead Road by Steve Earle and The Sound of Silence by Disturbed.

TouchTunes patrons nationwide listened to more Rock n’ Roll and Country than any other genre, with rock being the most played genre overall. Additional charts, including Top 10 Pop, Rock, Country, R&B/Hip Hop, Latin and Electronic Songs are all available as well.

-AMI’s Year-End Music Charts

AMI Entertainment’s annual list of top music for 2016 detailed a reported 15,000,000 hours of of songs played in tens of thousands of locations across the U.S. and Canada.

ami-logoEric Church was the most played artist on AMI jukes as well this year, and the top played song was “Tennessee Whiskey” from another Country star, Chris Stapleton. Rihanna, Drake and The Chainsmokers made a huge splash in the world of Pop music this year, with each having two hits featured in AMI’s Top Ten New Songs list. Other popular artists in the realm were Maren Morris, Desiigner, Lukas Graham and Florida Georgia Line.

Rock music once again came out on top as the most popular genre, but while the genre may still be king, there aren’t too many new faces showing up; AC/DC was the most-played rock artist, followed by other icons like Guns N’ Roses and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
