Novelty Game Maker Is Gone

Art Warner, whose Coin Concepts, Inc. produced a full lineup of novelties and redemption games in the late ’80s and early ’90s, passed away June 30 in North Jersey’s St. Peter’s Hospital at the age of 79. Services were conducted today (July 2), followed by entombment at the Beth Israel Mausoleum in Woodbridge. Donations in his name can be made either to the American Kidney Foundation or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Art came to the manufacturing arena following a successful career at Betson Enterprises where he worked with Neal Rosenberg and Jerry Gordon in game sales. Rather than concentrating on pinball and video games, Art devoted his primary attention to arcade games of that era.

After Betson, he founded and ran Coin Concepts, producing quite a number of games beginning with a pitch and bat baseball novelty modeled on the old Batter Up, followed by the Toss ‘em ball toss, Ol’ McDonalds kiddie driver, Pig Race rolldown and a number of others.

Art is survived by his wife Joyce, sons Drew, Lonny and Gary (who worked with his father during manufacturing times), grandchildren Jessica, Josh and Melaina and brother Barry. May he rest in peace.
