Twin Galaxies to Receive Guinness World Record

The city of Ottumwa, Iowa, is adding to its storied video game fame with an induction into the Guinness World Records during the 35th anniversary party for the founding of the famed Twin Galaxies.

It will be recognized as history’s first “video game adjudication service,” with the Guinness organization recognizing Twin Galaxies as the birthplace of organized, competitive eSports. Twin Galaxies celebrates its 35th anniversary on Nov. 10; the World Record will be presented on Nov. 19.
Back when Ottumwa was the headquarters of the world’s most competitive video game players, services such as Twitch.Tv or even the Internet for that matter were nonexistent. Now, as eSports becomes more widely available, popular and celebrated, the award gives credit where credit is due.
