French Politics Get Pixelated

It seems like there are never-ending creative uses for video games, but this is one we’ve never heard before! Supporters of far-left French presidential candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon have created an online flash game, Fiscal Kombat, to help support his campaign and give people a chance to get to know him better.

Mélenchon (known as the French Bernie Sanders to some) is the main character in the game, which takes you through the streets of France and tasks you with grabbing passing capitalists and oligarchs and shaking the money out of their pockets so it can be used to support France.

International Monetary Fund boss Christine Lagarde and France’s former president Nicolas Sarkozy make appearances as well, featured as mini-bosses.

According to some polls, Mélenchon is currently the third most popular candidate as the first round of voting approaches in France, and has gained that popularity in a burst after scandals broke about François Fillon. Voting starts on April 23 with a final runoff on May 7.

You can play the game for free through your browser here.
